Hi, I would like to know if in any case the camera GasFindIR HSX can decrease in sensitivity for detection. Is the US EPA AWP Daily Check scientifically relevant for FLIR GasFindIR? Thank you

Thank you The camera must pass a "Final Acceptance Test" in order to be shipped to a customer. So, the answer is really no. Sensitivity will not degrade over time. However, with ANY IR camera, the user can manipulate the image to appear to have a "bad" or "grainy" image, which may mask the effectiveness for detecting emissions. Yes. The GasFindIR was tested by an independent third party laboratory. The tests were completed using EPA and API guidelines for "Minimum Detection Leak Rates (MDLR)." Therefore, the daily check is there to verify that camera is consistent on a day-to-day basis.

There is no reasonfor sensitivity to degrade over time unless the camera is subjected to physical damage or pointed at a high radiation source such as the sun for an extended period of time. With regard to the US EPA Daily Check. Yes, this might prove the camera sensitivity is consistent over time given the right conditions but it does not guarantee you will find all the leaks in a particular location. That is down to the operator's training, skill and the environmental conditions at the time. Is the check scientifically relevant? NO.
